Community-Based Family Support Service

An early intervention approach to support families.

Who we Are ?

We work in partnership with families as well as with other agencies and professionals working with families to assist those experiencing challenges of one kind or another. The service is child-centered, takes a partnership approach and works to promote family coping and resilience.

Families can be supported through the service with issues such as:

  • Parenting
  • Relationship break-up
  • Bullying
  • Neighbourhood/community relationships etc

The service offers one-to-one support to individual families but also works to develop and promote community participation. This service is available to all families with children and teenagers aged up to 18 years with priority being based on level of need.

Family Support Group:

The North Tipperary Family Support Group is for those affected by a loved one’s addiction.

Families affected by a relative or close friend’s alcohol or drug addiction meet the first Wednesday of every month from 6-8pm in the Templemore Community Centre, Bank St, Templemore.

This support group aims to provide a space where a number of people with a common concern or problem can come together to share their experiences and to offer support to one another. A commitment to confidentiality is essential.

NTLP also runs parenting sessions and courses throughout the year.

How to Avail of the Service:

Families living within the Roscrea area can access the service directly by contacting the Family Support Worker who will assist in the completion of the referral form.

Alternatively referrals can be made by the family doctor, public health nurse, teacher, social worker or other professional working with the family.  All referrals are made with the knowledge and permission of the family.
